Floating on pillars out in Lake Hornborga stands Naturum Hornborgasjön. You will find an exciting and beautiful exhibition here about nature by the lake. You can learn more about the area here. It is always free to visit Naturum Hornborgasjön.
Naturum Hornborgasjön is located on the eastern side of the lake, near Broddetorp, where the plateau mountain Sydbillingen rises as a backdrop. Naturum Hornborgasjön is generally open from March to autumn break.
There is much to explore for all ages. You will learn about the landscape, history and nature in the exhibitions. Get to know the cranes or find out how the lake was restored from reed sea to bird kingdom.
If you want to broaden your horizons, go up to the observation tower (take the lift or the stairs).
Inside naturum Hornborgasjön there are also two WCs. One is handicapped accessible and also has a changing table. The WCs at the naturum are open when the naturum is open.
At the Doppingen building on the short side towards the parking area you will find WCs that are open all year round. Here too, there is an accessible WC which also has a changing table.

There is always no admission charge to enter naturum Hornborgasjön!
There is always a lot to do here for children. Go on a treasure hunt, become a member of the 10-club, or make some arts and crafts. At the craft bench, you can make something with natural materials. It’s only your imagination sets the limits.
Inside the naturum you will always encounter our knowledgeable guides. They are very eager pleased to advise you about places to visit in and outside the nature reserve and answer your questions about nature.
There is also a nature shop rich in contents with books and ideas for nature inspiration, for both young people and adults. During the Coronavirus pandemic we are not accepting cash, but payment by Swish or credit/debit cards is fine.
At Fågeludden in addition to Naturum Hornborgasjön you will also find Café Doppingen, which serves excellent meals, coffee and cake, as well as other refreshments. The opening hours may differ a little from Naturum Hornborgasjön’s.
In Doppingen you will find several WCs. They’re open all year round. There is also an accessible WC here.
If you continue your hike out from the naturum, you will find three bird hides at Fågeludden. You can sneak up on the birds here and have the opportunity to see them at very close range. Maybe you will see a Eurasian coot feeding her young.
Fågeludden and Naturum Hornborgasjön are one of the absolute best places by the lake to see birds all year round. If you walk out on the headland, you can visit the viewing platform. A beautiful building in oak and limestone.
But no matter how many cranes there are in the spring, this is not where you will see them. They are located in the southern part of the lake in March/April and you can see them at the Trandansen Info Centre. But you will never regret a visit to the bird cape, Fågeludden!

A naturum is a visitor centre with activities and exhibitions for visitors to a national park or nature reserve. Here knowledgeable staff can assist you to learn more about the animals, plants, geology and cultural history that have shaped the area before you go on to explore the nature.
In addition to exhibitions, many naturums also have guided tours, theme nights and nature trails. You can also get good advice for excursion destinations and hikes.

The Fågeludden in the Nature Reserve is open all year round. The nature in the nature reserve is always open. There is never any charge visit it. The o hours only apply to Naturum Hornborgasjön. There is no charge for entry here either.
